While the Ahmedabad Fire and Emergency Services (AF&ES) currently have only 21 fire stations compared to the 50 required for the city’s 503 sq km jurisdiction as per the Standing Fire Advisory Council (SFAC) of India, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has wasted Rs12.5 crore of taxpayers’ money and resources on fire staff quarters in an industrial zone. These quarters have remained unoccupied for the past two and a half years.
