IIMA GOES INTO FIRE-FIGHTING MODE

Premier biz school removes administrative officer who had llegedly threatened to withhold Akshith Bhukya’s degree if he mismanaged an in-house event as coordinator

Days after concerns were raised by some students and friends of the late Akshith Bhukya about a senior administrative manager’s veiled threats to withhold degrees if The Red Bricks Summit was mismanaged, the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIMA) administration has swung into action.

Sources at IIMA say that following a heated discussion in a recent faculty council meeting, the management has sent the advisor of administration on paid leave for an unspecified period. Senior faculty members have been brought in to fill two key roles: one to replace the senior administrative manager and another to handle student affairs at the prestigious business school.

IIMA to review policies and student support

In another big decision, IIMA management has also decided to form a panel to conduct a comprehensive review of corrective measures.
