Number of Ganesh Pandals this year to see a 30% drop due to heavy monsoon and waterlogging issues

While Ganesh Chaturthi is just around the corner, the festive spirit in Ahmedabad is markedly dampened by heavy rains. The number of large Ganesh pandals will be reduced by 25-30% this year, thanks to the monsoon and subsequent waterlogging issues.

Last year saw around 900 Ganesh pandals, of which 450 were registered with the Ahmedabad Sarvajanik Shree Ganesh Mahotsav Association.

This year, however, barely 300 bigger pandals across both eastern and western Ahmedabad have registered.
