Shela, a real estate hub growing fast over the past five years, faced its worst monsoon yet. While residents have been grappling with issues since the onset of monsoon, authorities seem to have washed their hands off the situation.
Many residential apartments in Shela were flooded with a mix of storm and sewage water, both in their parking basements and on the main roads. As if that was not enough, some residents claim garbage is not collected regularly from their places.
Some societies had to spend lakhs of rupees and pump out the water themselves. Despite attempts to reach out to the Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (AUDA) and the Shela gram panchayat, residents were met with silence.
