HC calls it a 'huge task', asks why panel cannot have multiple members
  • Referring to National Commission for Backward Classes, which has chairman, vice chairman and 3 members, the CJ asked government pleader Virk why the state cannot follow it

The state government on Friday told the High Court the state's Other Backward Class (OBC) Commission that was established through a resolution in 1993 will continue to function as a "one-man commission".

Though there was a proposal to appoint two additional members, the state government clarified it may not go ahead with it, adding "the government has decided that the OBC Commission shall function as a one-man Commission".
