Pricey, unregulated preschools

Preschool proprietors are voicing their concerns over the lack of a formal system to address the challenges they face. Sagar Nayak, a preschool owner, points out the disparity between preschools and other educational institutions. "Despite facing multiple challenges, there is no formal system or official body we can turn to. Preschools are still considered part of the informal sector," he says. "Because there is no formalized system for preschools, we are forced to directly approach the Education Minister."

Gap in the system

Unlike government, grant-in-aid and private schools that fall under the purview of the District Education Officer in each district, thousands of preschools operate outside any official framework. This creates a critical gap in the education system, leaving preschools without proper support and oversight.
