A GRIEVING mother's campaign to ban new drivers aged under 21 from carrying young passengers for six months after passing their test has been backed by the AA.

Crystal Owen, 39, whose only son Harvey died in a road accident two weeks after his 17th birthday with three school friends last November, has demanded tighter restrictions.

The AA said it also wants new drivers to be handed six penalty points for not wearing a seatbelt in the first six months after passing their test, which would mean they lose their licence.
