CONVICTED serial baby killer Lucy Letby was "caught virtually redhanded" by a doctor after she allegedly displaced a newborn girl's breathing tube, a court has heard.
Letby, 34, allegedly attempted to murder the infant known as Baby K in the neo-natal unit at the Countess of Chester Hospital in February 2016.
Manchester Crown Court was told Letby has already been convicted of the murders of seven babies and the attempted murders of six more.
But those jurors last year failed to reach a verdict regarding the Baby K allegation. Letby watched from a glass-panelled dock as prosecutor Nick Johnson KC opened this case.
