Child film star Hayley back on big screen at 78

HAYLEY Mills has made a Hollywood comeback nearly seven decades after she was catapulted into worldwide fame as a child star.

The British actress, now 78, who starred in Disney hits such as Pollyanna and the original Parent Trap in the 1960s, thought her filmmaking days were well behind her.

But director M Night Shyamalan sought her out for his new film Trap, about a serial killer.

Hayley said: "It came completely unexpectedly. I wasn't sure if I'd ever make another movie - I wasn't shedding any tears.

"People often look at you and think, 'This is a Disney actress, isn't it? It's a part I would have never expected to be considered for [but] it was lovely to be on a movie set again.
