Phil Shiner was struck off as a solicitor in 2017 after being found guilty of misconduct and dishonesty.
At London's Southwark Crown Court yesterday Shiner, who previously admitted that an agent acting on his behalf had been cold-calling potential clients in Iraq, received a suspended two-year jail sentence.
Dishonesty
Judge Christopher Hehir said although there was "obvious dishonesty" he did not think Shiner, once the principal solicitor of law firm Public Interest Lawyers, was motivated by personal greed.
