He rejected growing pressure from within the Democratic Party to withdraw after his disastrous TV debate with Donald Trump, saying he will not be forced from the race.
"I am running. I am the leader of the Democratic Party. No one is pushing me out," Mr Biden said, according to a top aide who posted the President's comment on X.
Sources said Mr Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris put in a surprise appearance during a Democratic National Committee conference call to give a pep talk.
