ISLAMIC terrorism may get a "boost" in the UK following the death of the Hamas leader, a former head of M16 warned.

Sir John Sawers suggested international targets could become a new focus for militant groups, after Israeli troops killed Yahya Sinwar, the man who masterminded the group's October 7 terror attacks last year.

Police and intelligence agencies in this country should be "on their toes" for signs of terror from the likes of Hamas and its Lebanese counterpart Hezbollah, Sir John has warned.
