Superbike legend's £1m court battle over crash that ended his career

Six-time champion Shane Byrne lost control and smashed into a tyre wall on a racing course in May 2018.

Mr Byrne, 47, was in his sporting "prime" riding a Ducati on a test run at Snetterton, Norfolk, when he suffered devastating spinal injuries.

The star, who holds the track record for the circuit, claims better protective measures would have minimised the injury risk to riders.

Mr Byrne, of Sittingbourne, Kent, is suing British superbike championship organiser MotorSport Vision Racing Ltd, track owner MotorSport Vision Ltd, and The Motorcycle Circuit Racing Control Board Ltd for seven-figure damages.
