The mid-strength ale is one of Tower's special brands. Owner John Mills said of the King's pint with its foamy head: “Are you going to have a slurp of that, Sir?”
Charles chuckled, noting if not he was “in the wrong place”, adding: “To your very good health,” before taking a sip.
Mr Mills also told the monarch about the 41% proof liquor, The Spirit of Burton, he had made with a colleague - a distilled version of one of his strong IPAs.
