CABBIES and ambulance drivers are far less likely to develop Alzheimer's, research suggests.

Scientists suspect that regularly driving from memory may boost their brain power.

The study found that after adjusting for factors such as age, about 1.7% of people die of Alzheimer's. The occupations with the lowest proportion were cabbies (at 1%) and ambulance drivers (0.74%).
