EVERY Formula One fan was left stunned on February 1 when Lewis Hamilton announced his move to Ferrari next year.
But even though both he and boss Toto Wolff have explained how it all came about, very few truly know how things went down behind the scenes at Mercedes.
Matt Whyman is one of those people. For 18 months, he was embedded within the team, eating, travelling and working with staff for his new book, Inside Mercedes F1.
He had a front-row seat to the inner workings of the eight-time constructors' champions including the aftermath of Hamilton's bombshell.
"Soon after the announcement was the shakedown for the W15 at Silverstone," recalled Whyman.
