Evidence snub agony for IRA victim's family

THE family of a soldier killed in the 1974 Guildford pub bombings has been told fresh evidence will not be investigated due to a new law.

Police wrote to relatives of victim Ann Hamilton, 19, saying detectives had identified a potential forensic line of inquiry for criminal investigation.

But no probe will take place because the new Legacy Act, designed to help authorities find the truth about the Troubles, means investigations into cases of the era are to end on May 1.
