SIR Chris Hoy says he is feeling fit, strong and positive following his terminal cancer diagnosis.
The six-time Olympic champion, 48, said he was overwhelmed by the love shown to his family after he revealed prostate cancer had spread throughout his body.
He was diagnosed last year and given two to four years to live.
Sir Chris also revealed his wife Sarra, mum of their children Chloe, seven, and Callum, 10, has been diagnosed with a severe form of multiple sclerosis.
When his son, then aged nine, asked if his dad was going to die, Sir Chris replied that no one lives forever but he hoped, thanks to the medicine, "to be here for many, many years".
The cycling legend decided to speak out to raise awareness about living with stage four cancer.
TINGLING
Weeks before his diagnosis, Sarra, 40, a lawyer, had tests on a tingling sensation in her face and tongue.
They revealed her MS was aggressive and needed urgent treatment.
Sir Chris remains upbeat, revealing on social media: "I just wanted to reassure you all that I'm feeling fit, strong and positive, and overwhelmed by all the love and support shown to my family and me. Onwards!"
Prime Minister Keir Starmer led the flood of tributes, saying: "Such sad news. Chris is a British sporting legend. To face his diagnosis with such positivity is inspiring. The whole country is behind him and his family."
