THE shoddy state of housing for the armed forces is a national scandal, says the Defence Secretary.
John Healey fears the poor conditions are having a major impact on the morale of service personnel.
He said: "The last government corroded this nation's moral contract with those who serve. Our dedicated personnel and their families deserve better than this Tory legacy of damp and mouldy homes."
It comes after a damning report by the Kerslake Commission in May said accommodation had been substandard and often unacceptable for years.
