- CCTV footage shows no sign of the fugitive
- Model soldier used Army skills in escape
- Probe into security blunders at the prison
A FUGITIVE terror suspect used his Army training to vanish into thin air during London's rush hour, counter-terror police have said.
Daniel Abed Khalife, 21, was a "model soldier" with 16 Signal Regiment, whose motto is Find A Way Or Make One. He escaped from HMP Wandsworth strapped to the bottom of a delivery van at 7.32am on Wednesday.
Prison staff realised he was missing at 7.50am but did not tell police until 8.15am. When they stopped the van at 8.37am in Richmond, Khalife was gone, leaving just the straps behind.
CCTV footage from cameras along the route show no sign of him.
Commander Dominic Murphy, head of the Met Police Counter Terrorism Command, said: "This was a really busy area of London and we've had no confirmed sightings, which is a little unusual and perhaps a testament to Daniel Khalife's ingenuity in his escape.
"We have some of the best military in the world here in the UK and he was a trained soldier. So, ultimately, he has skills that perhaps some sections of the public don't have. We are using everything in our means to find him.
"He's a very resourceful individual."
