Leader's reply to PM's brazen defence claim

RISHI Sunak's desperate claim that only he can keep the UK safe provoked a sharp retort from Keir Starmer.

The Labour leader said the Tories' record was dismal and that security would be his top priority.

The PM, trying to revive his leadership, brazenly claimed Labour would not keep Britain safe.

But Mr Starmer said: "The first duty of any government - particularly an incoming Labour government is national security, the security of the country and that would be my first priority."
