ONE heck of a strike settled this game and, given the circumstances, entirely fittingly it came from a Manchester United boot.

But match-winner Diogo Dalot (above) insisted if Erik ten Hag's side are to properly commemorate the passing of Sir Bobby Charlton, this result must be a building block to a brighter future.

It was an emotional day for the club with the death of a man who not only won the World Cup with England but whose life was weaved into the fabric of Manchester United.

If resilience, spirit and class were his trademarks, this victory drew on all three as Dalot's winner curled into the top corner 13 minutes from time to give Ten Hag's side back-to-back league wins for the first time this season.

The Portugal defender said: "We came to the dressing room knowing we had to give everything on the pitch to get these three points and get a little bit of joy for Sir Bobby's family on a sad day.

"I was fortunate enough to meet him and know what a legend he still is for this club.
