A MOTHER accidentally killed her 11-year-old neighbour with poison gas while exterminating bedbugs.

Jesmin Akter, 34, illegally imported aluminium phosphide from Italy to deal with an infestation in her flat.

She failed to read the labelling before using a deadly amount in her home and taking her family out for 24 hours.

The pellets reacted with moisture, creating poisonous gas phosphine likened to chemical warfare agents.

It seeped into other flats, killing Fatiha Sabrin on her 11th birthday and hospitalising another child in December 2021.
