CONSTRUCTION workers who spent 17 days trapped under a collapsed mountain tunnel have all been saved.
The 41 labourers survived on food and oxygen passed to them through steel pipes as rescuers worked their way through debris to reach them.
They were eventually pulled out one at a time through a narrow passageway, on a wheeled stretcher.
And when they emerged, they were embraced by a jubilant crowd that included the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Pushkar Singh Dhami.
The 2.8 mile-long tunnel in the northern Indian state collapsed on Sunday, November 12 after being hit by a landslide.
