RISHI Sunak has been confronted over his Government's failure on cancer treatment waiting times in the wake of King Charles' diagnosis.
Less than two-thirds (65.2%) of people in England received their diagnosis and started their first treatment within 62 days of an urgent referral in November. This is well below the target of 85%.
Radio 5 Live presenter Rachel Burden told the Prime Minister: "Your government hasn't met its own targets for cancer treatment for nine years now.
"What do you say to people waiting with the anxiety of not knowing when their treatments will start?" Mr Sunak said: "I know it's been an anxious time for anyone... in that circumstance.
"The most important thing we can do is to make sure that we catch cancer diagnosis as early as possible. That's the thing that makes the most difference to people's ability to get through it."
