Heads call for change after Ruth's death

PRESSURE is mounting on Ofsted as schools show support for headteacher Ruth Perry, who took her own life while waiting for a "harmful" inspection report.

Staff wore black armbands and held RIP Ruth placards as inspectors arrived to assess John Rankin School in Newbury, Berks, yesterday.

The Suffolk Primary Headteachers' Association is meeting to discuss possible "collective action during Ofsted inspections in solidarity.

It will weigh up displaying a photo of Ruth when inspectors visit schools, as well as the wearing of black armbands and starting inspections with a minute's silence.
