AN SAS raid when commandos seized a train and drove it behind enemy lines in the Second World War to carry out a prison break can be revealed for the first time.
British and French soldiers landed in Taranto in Italy in 1943 and stormed the train station at nearby Chiatona to commandeer the locomotive.
They drove it 50 miles into Nazi-occupied territory to a concentration camp where hundreds of prisoners, including Jewish civilians, faced inhumane conditions.
