JAMIE VARDY was part of the Premier League's greatest fairytale - and he delivered another chapter to upset Tottenham.

The 37-year-old was Leicester's unlikely hero as he scored a priceless equaliser to outshine Tottenham's £65million new boy Dominic Solanke.

But Spurs will surely still be wondering how they did not win after dominating the first half and hardly giving the Foxes a sniff.

It was a harsh reminder for Ange Postecoglou's men that if you do not take your chances then football will come back to bite you.

Tottenham were so dominant, so in control after Pedro Porro's opener, you could not see anything but an away win and yet Leicester showed as much fight to win a point as they did in that famous season eight years ago.

It is going to be a hard season for Leicester boss Steve Cooper but, with spirit like this, it would not be a surprise if they avoided the drop.

In contrast, Tottenham were wasteful. Solanke, making his debut after the switch from Bournemouth, barely had a look-in and this was not the start that Postecoglou would have wanted after his team's s finish to last season.
