Lib Dem Ed in call to tackle crisis

KEIR Starmer must grasp the scale of the country's care crisis before his first Budget, Sir Ed Davey says.

The Lib Dem leader said he is "frustrated and disappointed" that sorting out social care does not seem to be a top priority for Labour.

In the election campaign, Sir Ed spoke movingly about providing 24-hour care for his 12-year-old son and now he is urging the PM to draw up radical plans to improve carers' pay.

He warned that without doing so, the NHS and the economy will suffer.
