CORONATION Street star Dan Brocklebank is joining the fight for fairer pricing on vets' bills.
Dan, who plays vicar Billy Mayhew, was hit with a bill of nearly £2,000 for one of his dachshunds, Jean - including a £26.90 charge for paracetamol which is available online for 38p.
The Competition Markets Authority is investigating the veterinary industry, amid fears that pet owners may be overcharged by the large corporate groups which own most practices.
Dan had no trouble paying but knows many people would struggle, and some owners are being forced to give up their precious pets, with many going to the Dogs Trust welfare charity.
The 44-year-old owns three rescue dachshunds - Colin, five, Dorris, one, and four-year-old Jean. He said:
