£100M ON NHS MAINTENANCE

SCOTLAND health boards spent a staggering £100million on maintenance costs in a year.

The figure represents a huge rise of 7.5 per cent in just three years.

It comes just months after it was announced all new NHS building projects have been put on hold.

Last night, Scottish Labour accused the Scottish Government of "mismanagement" of the NHS.

The party's health spokeswoman, Jackie Baillie, said: "It's deeply concerning NHS maintenance costs are spiralling and all the while major NHS infrastructure projects have been paused, demonstrating that the SNP's sticking-plaster approach is not working.

"After 17 years of mismanagement of our NHS, the SNP needs to get a grip to stop our NHS estate from crumbling.
