A DRUGS gang tried to hide a £500,000 cannabis farm in a pair of high street shops.

The duo were caught when the overwhelming stench of weed was noticed by neighbours.

Police smashed through a false plasterboard front and found a huge haul of plants and two illegal immigrants, from Albania, working as cannabis farmers.

Prosecutor Christine Allen told Dundee Sheriff Court that Petrit Shtyme and Demirel Buruti had taken over two shop units on Arbroath’s High Street.
