Afghan medics CAN study at Scottish únis

TWENTY female Afghan medical students will be allowed to come to Scotland to take up university places after being blocked by red tape for over a year.

The Daily Record reported in October that the UK Government said it "cannot commit" to reopening the Afghan Citizen Resettlement Scheme to allow women to study at Scottish universities.

But we can now reveal UK and Scottish Governments have agreed to allow the trainee docs to apply for student visas.

They must go to a UK embassy in Pakistan to apply for them. The Linda Norgrove Foundation, which has been campaigning to bring them to the UK, will pay for them to travel to Pakistan and then to Scotland.
