AN ACT OF TOOD

Cantwell is Ibrox hero as late winner puts Gers level at the summit with Celts... but Warnock is left to rue howlers by Roos that handed Dons defeat
AN ACT OF TOOD

NEIL WARNOCK once famously said: “You’ve got to DIE to get three points.”

But you’ve got no chance if you shoot yourselves in the foot like Aberdeen did last night.

The new Pittodrie boss might just have had a chance of matching the draw Peter Leven managed against Celtic on Saturday had his team held their nerve.

Unfortunately, his keeper couldn’t cling on to two shots he really should have and paid the price as Rabbi Matondo put Gers ahead before Todd Cantwell underlined his growing importance to this Rangers side with his fifth goal in the last seven games.

It got nervy in the end after Ibrox substitute Dujon Sterling got himself sent off two minutes from time.

Rangers could have saved themselves that stoppage-time anxiety had they taken one of several golden opportunities in the first half.

While the Gers attackers choked in front of goal, Bojan Miovski showed his new Pittodrie boss why Aberdeen have been so reliant on him this term.

It’s now 20 for the season for the Macedonian ace and goodness knows where the Dons would be without him.

Warnock certainly wouldn’t be pitching up at Ibrox for what was the 1627 game of his dugout career had the rest of the Aberdeen side matched the striker’s standards before Barry Robson’s sacking.

“Enjoy yourself but enjoy it by being disciplined” is another of Warnock’s better-known soundbites.

Well Rangers are certainly lapping up life under Philippe Clement now they’ve inched their way back level with Celtic at the top of the Premiership.
