Furious climbers hit out as tourists are turning iconic mountain spot into a litter disgrace as they scatter garbage behind them at top of peak

CLIMBERS have hit out at the disgusting state of the Ben Nevis summit after rubbish was left strewn across Scotland's highest point.

A video of the shelter atop the mountain, designed to be used as refuge from storms, shows it turned into a dumping ground.

Filled with lazy hikers' rubbish, the small structure, which contains little more than a bed for lost or endangered hikers, resembles a landfill more than a shelter.

Scotland's largest mountain attracts 125,000 walkers a year and can present a real danger to inexperienced hikers, with the shelter offering safety to those who may be struggling and in need of rest.
