A DOG gunned down by armed police after it savaged two men had been brought north of the Border just two weeks ago following England’s crackdown on XL bullies.
The dog, called Zeus, can be seen in CCTV footage shared exclusively with the Record as he enters a shop in Hamilton with his owner.
In the clip, Zeus is shown wagging his tail and jumping up to the counter before he is fed a biscuit.
His owner-named locally as William Hunter is also seen patting the dog's head.
The video, taken just before 5pm on Tuesday, was captured minutes before Zeus mauled Hunter and another man on two separate streets.
Hunter, believed to be in his late 40s, was attacked on Tinto View. He was rushed to Glasgow's Queen Elizabeth University Hospital with serious lower limb injuries.
His condition last night was unknown.
A second man was also attacked by Zeus minutes earlier, on nearby Loudonhill " He would get his treats. He seemed friendly View.
He was taken to Hairmyres Hospital in East Kilbride, where he received treatment for minor injuries.
Day Today shopkeeper Numan Saifi spoke of his shock at the events that unfolded after Zeus left the store.
He said: "Zeus was in here with his owner just before the attack.
"I can't believe this has SHOP OWNER NUMAN SAIFI ON DOG ATTACK happened. He always seemed calm and friendly.
Shop owner Zeeshan Rashid was also left shaken at the news and said Hunter had rescued Zeus from England just two weeks earlier.
He said: "The dog would come into our shop most days and always seemed very well behaved.
