A FORMER postmistress has told of years of misery battling Horizon shortfalls at the same post office where the current owner faces ruin.
Karen Galpin and her husband, David, were postmasters for more than eight years but say constant errors and demands by Post Office chiefs left them fearing they would lose their home.
They finally walked away in 2013 from Comrie Post Office, in Perthshire – the branch where postmistress Marlene Wood is still forking out for mystery shortfalls and on the brink of losing everything.
Karen told how they plugged thousands of pounds of shortfalls flagged by the faulty IT software, now the centre of a national scandal.
She said: “All the discrepancies happened overnight when everything was locked away in a time-locked safe and the office was closed.
