Drug dealer sold heroin from his cell

A SCOTS prison inmate ran a county lines drug supply plot from his cell using smuggled mobile phones.

But a plot involving nine other people was smashed after the death of a user who was suspected of taking extra strong heroin peddled by the organised crime group.

Carlisle Crown Court heard gang members trafficked more than a kilo of the class A drug from Merseyside to Kendal and the South Lakes in Cumbria. Their criminal enterprise ran from August 1, 2021, to late March the following year.

Ryan Norton was serving his second jail term for drugs supply and ran the illegal operation from his cell at HMP Barlinnie in Glasgow. He had also served time, briefly, at HMP Edinburgh, the court heard.
