CALLS for a general election are intensifying amid fears that Russian hackers could hijack Tory members' online vote to pick our next PM.
Over 80,000 people had last night signed a Mirror petition demanding the decision be put to a nationwide vote instead of handing it to party activists for the second time in just seven weeks.
But the choice could end up being made by just 357 Conservative MPs if secret backroom talks this weekend end in a coronation.
Labour leader Keir Starmer warned: "The risk is not a general election, the risk is continuing with this chaos." Deputy leader Angela Rayner added: "It is unacceptable for a tiny Tory selectorate to inflict another unelected Tory PM on our country and leave us all paying the price.
"The public deserve better than this revolving door of chaos.
"The British people deserve a proper say on our country's future.
We need a general election now."
CRISIS
Liberal Democrat leader Ed. Davey said: "We do not need another Conservative Prime Minister lurching from crisis to crisis, we need to get rid of them.
