Warning as number of patients per doc soars

GP CRISIS FEARS

GPS have voiced concern over a surge in patients on their books.

Figures show a 15 per cent rise as people struggle more than ever to get an appointment.

There are now 1743 patients per GP, up from 1515 in 2013.

Scottish Labour claimed "patient to doctor ratios were spiralling out of control" after the problem was partly blamed on GPs leaving their jobs.

Party health spokeswoman Jackie Baillie said:

"When GPs are leaving the profession, it's no wonder patients are struggling to get appointments.
