THE Queen has pledged in a television documentary to keep fighting to end domestic violence.
Camilla says she is determined to continue raising awareness of what she calls a heinous crime.
The Queen, 77, was followed over the course of a year for the ITV documentary as she met survivors and made a secret visit to a refuge centre.
She said: "It is going to take a long, long time because it has been going on forever. It's been going since time began. But if you look at the steps we've taken since the bad old days, we have made a huge amount of progress. I shall keep trying until I am able to no more." Every 30 seconds in the UK, someone calls 999 about domestic abuse. More than one in four women will experience domestic abuse in their lives, and about three women a week take their life as a result of it. Her Majesty The Queen: Behind Closed Doors, airs on STV on Monday, November 11, at 9pm.
