ROLLERCOASTER IS SO LAST YEAR

JAMIE MCGRATH can rattle off incredible highs from 2023 - and a whole lot of lows.

But the Aberdeen midfielder feels certain 2024 will be a better year for the Dons after the rollercoaster ride he has been on over recent months.

McGrath's highlights for club and country include a bow for the Republic of Ireland in front of 51,000 fans in a narrow defeat to the Netherlands at the Johan Cruyff Arena.

He helped clinch three points for Aberdeen in front of almost 50,000 at Ibrox in the Premiership, while European adventures included admirable displays against Eintracht Frankfurt and PAOK.

In among the highs, there were domestic lows such as the League Cup Final loss to Rangers and last Saturday's 3-0 beating at home to St Mirren.

Having then swept to an identical margin of victory at Ross County three days later, McGrath admits it has been a crazy, breathless opening six months at Pittodrie.

The 27-year-old said: "There have been a lot of highs and a lot of lows as well.

"Playing in the big European nights in front of the big crowds at Pittodrie was quite something.
