Goodnight Mr McKenzie as Killie hero's glory moment is cancelled out by last-gasp Dark Blues leveller
Same old Rory

RORY MCKENZIE felt gutted after a long-awaited moment of Kilmarnock glory was ripped away by an unforgivable late lapse.

The 30-year-old went from sheer elation to abject despair following the dramatic conclusion to events at Rugby Park.

Killie celebrated when Joe Wright headed an equaliser with just five minutes of normal time remaining to cancel out Luke McCowan's opener.

But Derek McInnes' side weren't finished and the stadium soon exploded in scenes of joy when their popular midfield star looked to have secured a fabulous fightback.

On as a sub, McKenzie lashed home after Dundee failed to deal with fellow replacement Gary Mackay-Steven's low delivery into the box and the ball broke for him.

It was a massive moment for Kilmarnock as a team and also for McKenzie as an individual.

Without a goal since the club's return to the top flight, the fans' favourite had every reason to go wild with delight and he was mobbed by colleagues.

It's been tough to get minutes never mind goals this season with McInnes' midfield functioning well and this was going to be something special to cherish.
