LEE MAIR reckons an answer to Aberdeen’s managerial woes was starting them in the face last weekend.

But he believes Dons might not be the only ones looking in the direction of over-achieving St Mirren gaffer Stephen Robinson.

Robbo’s relentless Saints stunned dismal Dons with a late show to stay on track for Europe.

The Northern Irishman is working his top-six magic for the second year running in Paisley.

Mair believes a cast- iron Premiership performer must be in the mix to cure Aberdeen’s problems.

And after punching above his weight with Motherwell a few years ago, the case for Robinson being in contention is clear.

Aberdeen have hired consultants to conduct a detailed review of the football operation.

But Mair claims the Pittodrie board shouldn’t need to get too clever over the next appointment.

The former Dons and Buddies defender said: “Aberdeen have gone down the route of younger managers – Stephen Glass, Jim Goodwin, Barry Robson.

“Three fairly inexperienced ones and they lasted a year at best. The Aberdeen board has a big decision to make.

“Fans are quickly losing patience. I wouldn’t like to be the person making the decision on the next manager. They need to get this bang-on.

“The club is in a bit of turmoil. It has been unsettled and inconsistent since Derek McInnes left. They’ve bought themselves time by getting in Neil Warnock.
