THE EYES HAVE IT

CELTIC have been looking long and hard into the transfer window but Brendan Rodgers insists any new arrivals will need to pass his eye test.

Hoops fans haven't been too happy with the shopping in the January sales so far with wide man Nicolas Kuhn the only new face in the door going into the final frantic 24 hours.

A couple more could arrive today with striker Adam Idah ready to check in from Norwich on a loan deal with a view to permanent move and Celtic attempting to push at least one more over the line.

Whether the supporters will be content with the business remains to be seen, with the title in the balance along with the major Champions League bounty that comes with it.

But no matter what happens, fans can be sure their manager has given the green light and brought the personal touch to the negotiations.

Rodgers is a thoroughly modern manager who uses every tool in the box when it comes to transfers. Celtic have a fleet of scout and analysts who pour over footage and crunch the numbers.

But data can only tell Rodgers so much. He likes to look deeper at players - and stare into their eyes to see if they have what it takes to cope at this club. He knows it's not easy. Last weekend grumpy fans were booing after beating Ross County. But Rodgers will go behind the numbers.

He said: "Listen, there will be certain clubs who will only look at the analysis side of it.
