Hero Idah gives Celts a fairytale ending

THE Motherwell young team held up a cinema-themed banner before the game hailing their team.

But it took a dramatic second-half starring role from Adam Idah to keep Celtic hopes alive of a fairytale ending to the title race.

At half-time at Fir Park it was looking like another horror movie for Brendan Rodgers.

Behind to Blair Spittal's stunner, slapstick Celts were all over the shop.

Motherwell were doing a number on them and it was close to a full-blown crisis as Rodgers had ever experienced round these parts.

The Hoops boss hooked Kyogo Furuhashi but could have dragged off half-a-dozen others.

Yet the introduction of Idah turned the game and perhaps even saved their season.

The on-loan Norwich bulldozer thumped a headed leveller and then pounced again in the fourth minute of stoppage time to secure three absolutely essential points to remain on Rangers' tail.

Fellow sub Luis Palma tucked in a third to make sure even deeper in added time and Celtic managed to get out of Dodge on a day when they threatened to gift-wrap the big prize and post it to Ibrox.

The second-half performance merited the win but it was still brutal on Well. They caused the Hoops tons of problems thanks to the likes of the superb Lennon Miller and Spittal.

Celtic got out of jail - but Rodgers will know they can't keep this up.

The Hoops gaffer warned his side going in that the real pressure hadn't even started yet with this title race.

But it looked like the words fell on deaf ears in that first half.

Celts were a bag of nerves.
