TRAGEDY IN TURKEY

A SCOTS oil boss shot his celebrity wife dead and then turned the gun on himself in a murder-suicide in Turkey.

David Blyth, from Edinburgh, gunned down his wife, singer and comedian Victoria Blyth, after a row over text messages she received.

The 53-year-old murdered his 40-year-old partner, also known as Victoria Velvet, before shooting himself at their family home in the Turkish capital, Ankara.

All three of their children are understood to have been present at the time of the double-death as medics pronounced them dead at the scene.

No one else was injured during the firearms incident.

Local reports suggest that Blyth, who was the owner of an international company named ASG Inspection, shot his wife dead following an argument that broke out between the pair over Victoria's text messages.

The couple's three children, aged four, 10 and 14, have been placed in the care of their mother's relatives, who travelled to Turkey following the tragedy.

Tributes have since poured in for Victoria, who was a well-known singer and comedian in the Czech Republic.

The talented artist came to fame in 2004 following the release of her first album, Killing Me Softly, which was renowned for her cover of the American rock band Eagles' Hotel California.

She also co-hosted the Morning Show on Europe 2 alongside Czech broadcaster Leoš Mareš.
