Average Scottish winter is 1C milder than 100 years ago

THE average Scots winter is around 1C warmer and 15 per cent wetter than a century ago as climate change has taken hold, new analysis shows.

A study of 100 years of Met Office data found a rise in abnormal warm spells across the UK in the winter months - but showed Scotland, in particular, remains susceptible to brutal cold snaps.
