ENGLAND'S white-ball trip to the West Indies has no obvious point other than some winter fun in the sun - but if it helps to unearth the successor to Adil Rashid it will definitely have been worth it.
Rashid has been a fabulous servant to England as their leading spin-bowling wicket-taker in limitedovers cricket but at 36, he cannot go on forever. So the presence on the trip of his protege Jafer Chohan is a potential signpost to the future.
Chohan, 22, is only just making his way with Yorkshire so his inclusion in the England squad is based on a hunch rather than hard evidence but when a leg-spinner comes personally recommended by Joe Root and individually mentored by Rashid, you suspect there is more to it than a lucky dip.
