DAVID BROOKS is desperate to repay Wales after their medical team helped to diagnose his cancer early and potentially saved his life.
Wales were preparing for a double header against the Czech Republic and Estonia when Brooks was given the devastating news in October 2021.
It followed the prompt actions of Wales team doctor Jon Houghton who saw the danger signals and helped spot Stage 2 Hodgkin lymphoma.
Within 24 hours of tests, Brooks was coming to terms with the shock diagnosis which meant rounds of gruelling chemotherapy.
But Welsh international Brooks was eventually declared "cancer free" last May having sat out Bournemouth's promotion-winning campaign.
He came on as a substitute for the Cherries at Aston Villa in the Premier League in March for his first appearance in 536 days.
